Kahaulahilahi Vegas

Kahaulahilahi Vegas is a fluent Hawaiian language speaker whose family is from both Molokaʻi and Oʻahu. A graduate of both Leeward Community College and the University of Hawaiʻi – West Oʻahu, she is currently at the University of Hawaiʻi – Mānoa working for her masters degree in Public Health focusing on Native Hawaiian and Indigenous Health. Her goal is to help the Hawaiian community.

Lahi loves to write, and her original mele have won Ka ʻUmeke Kāʻeo Achievement Awards. Her mele, Ka Maile, published in Pūpū A ʻO ʻEwa, was written in honor of her grandparents. Lahi credits her kūpuna for providing the foundation for her lifeʻs path. She says she will always be inspired by kūpuna: He aloha pau ʻole – a love without end.
